Susan’s background is in nursing.  She received her bachelors in nursing in 1978 and her masters in pediatric nursing in 1994.  She began her career in Level 3 Neonatal ICU and completed it as a pediatric primary health care NP. At that time she developed significant autoimmune disease and began to identify holes in our current health system for those living with serious and/or chronic illness, thus beginning her journey into integrative care.

Susan completed Healing Touch Level 1 in 2006, course completion in 2009 and became an HTCP in 2012, presently retired and practicing informally.  Upon certification she opened a private holistic health nursing practice including Healing Touch Energy Medicine, clinical hypnosis with detailed training via the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, health counsel and mind body strategies. 

Her target population includes those experiencing every day and unexpected stress, including those living with life altering and life threatening illness.  Her mission was and remains to bring relief and empower clients toward improved quality of life, as well as to demonstrate and secure the validity and appropriateness of integrative therapies such as Healing Touch Energy Medicine within the realm of Western allopathic care. Her vision is a large health toolbox where evidence based and evidence influenced therapies work in partnership for the highest good of all concerned.  She is a staunch supporter of the work of Janet Mentgen in developing this curriculum of energy medicine.

Currently she is a student in the Healing Touch for Animals program, This work brings her full circle in nursing practice: supporting recovery from physical and developmental stress and illness, easing emotional trauma and abuse issues, reduction of stress and anxiety, among other areas.  She is beginning volunteer work at her local animal shelter this fall using Healing Touch for Animals skills.
